Main Function

• It has a circuit interface that connects to the programming header on the PCB. This provides power, clock and data lines to communicate with the programmable device.
• There is firmware or software that controls the loader. This allows you to select and upload programming files.
• The loader converts the programming file into a format that the programmable device can understand, typically a raw binary bitstream.
• It then transmits the bitstream serially across the data line(s) to the programmable device at a specified speed and protocol.
• The programmable device receives the bitstream and reprograms its internal configuration memory, switching the internal routing and logic to match the new bitstream.
• After programming is complete, the loader disconnects from the PCB and the programmable device operates with its new configuration.
• The main functions of a PCB loader are to convert programming files, interface physically with the target device and transmit the bitstream reliably and quickly. This allows developers to program and reprogram their PCBs with different configurations after the board has been manufactured.
